something to say

We all have a story to tell
Whether it’s done badly or done well
Whether it’s hard or easy or makes your fist swell when you think about it…

But - no matter how it is done
our story
needs to be told
For the broken and the bold
For the young and the old
Because we as humans, hold
too much in

the fear and frustration shows in our faces
behind the brick walls
imprints itself on the masks that we wear
and no matter how hard we try to share
we are all still afraid

which is why we are looking so hard to be braver then we were before
to face the demons that we have
and settle the score
whether you were a pedophile or whore
a preacher, a teacher - or
the man that sits at the door and watches

it is always hard to give things up
even if you take your time it can seem as if you are too abrupt in the telling
so the stories - that need to be told
aren’t

like the story of a young boy and his mother
who teaches her son many things
from how to walk
to speaking with strength
and his son, always happy when his mommy is around
from the age of birth - 6 - to- 10…
this child
feels that if he falls - his mother will pick him up from the ground

they are best friends
next of kin
and then all of a sudden
the child realizes that the way he is being touched, doesn’t feel so right
doesn’t understand until the age of 12 that his mommy at night
lays in the bed with him and caresses him in his sleep

darkness - light – no one in sight
at night everything doesn’t seem so right

but he - doesn’t know who to tell and he doesn’t know how to fight
because he trust this person that plays with him and teaches him and prays with him
and lays with him

Hush little baby don’t say a word
Mommies gonna touch you and touch you and touch you

so his story he doesn’t tell so well
his life really doesn’t go so swell
and after years of not knowing
he keeps that story to himself
and the result of him putting it all on the shelf…
affects him

and the result of not having anyone to talk to about his confusion and hell
is that he grows up alone
never had a girlfriend and his tone…
on relationships, well - they never really work out the way he plans
so he burry’s himself in work and watches HBO on demand
sometimes looking at porno mag’s to read the articles on why he ended up this way
watches a real life Sex in the City day after day
he remembers childhood - how his momma always…/

he starts to write and deal with his thoughts
from childhood to high school to diners and coffee shops
sits at the table and listens to others on the mic
he has so much to say - but nothing to write

because he is still scared… like most of us

but if he can get up and tell his life story
then you can too
and it’s rare that we accept everything that is said up here to be true

Because we all have a story to be told
it’s hard to understand the other side of what has lead people to be the way they are
Tales that could challenge some or none
may go nowhere it may go far

But regardless if they do or not
Those stories needs to be heard
And the speakers of the word
Need to nurture the herds that come in to listen as well as speak
Because that next word can be the savior
The voice that someone needs

This can be anything that we want it too be
And we can be saved
If we would just listen as much as we speak
