if you want

you want to save lives
then
tell a child
that you love them
hold their hand
teach them how not
to be like everyone else
how it can be ok
to follow rules

give them some order
give them $2

help them find their way
say to them what others would not say like

“go with their heart”

“finish what you start”

be a part of that child’s life

help them speak out loud when they see something wrong with the picture

guide them with their homework

be a friend

it takes a village
so if there are kids on the block acting bad
kick some ass
like your momma did when you set your foot in the door 1 second after the street lights went out

tell people what you think

don’t be nice
be honest

and if you want something
go out and get it
don’t be lazy
be creative

do what needs to be done

you want to make a change
you want to find out your purpose
then

the next time
when it rains
drop your umbrella
and jump in a puddle

when it snows
fall on your back and
make an angel

and as you sit
with your child
get a pen and a blank pad

and scribble with them
color in the book
go outside the lines

sing songs with your fingers
and write

allow your heart to fall out on a page

see if someone will catch you
